Wisdom is implanted in the human heart. If someone comes and awakens the individual to the presence of this  hidden treasure then it will become revealed to all, but if not, then it will disappear like a seed which if sown and plowed will grow, but if not, then it will rot.

So too Hashem said to Moshe Rabbeinu, may his soul rest, that He would fill them with חכמת לב, and someone was needed to awaken this wisdom within them, to inform them so that they could draw out their wisdom from its potential and make it a reality.           This is the meaning of the verse “Next you shall instruct all who are wise of heart”, and what should you say to them?  “That I have filled them with a spirit of wisdom [wisdom of the heart]” This is itself what he was to tell them and to inform them that they are filled with the spirit of wisdom” and by informing them thus he would thereby awaken the potential within them “to make Aaron’s clothes, for consecrating him to serve Me as priest.”

  1. After translating the פסוק, what role is משה meant to play? What role does ה’ play? What role are the artisans (/בצלאל and אהליאב) supposed to play?
  2. How does the חתם סופר read the פסוק? What roles is everyone playing?

Individual reflection and chavruta sharing:

  1. What talent, trait or capacity do you recognize Hashem has “filled” you with? (Finish the following sentence: Thank you Hashem for filling me with חכמה of/to be…)
  2. What people or experiences were מעורר (awakened, nurtured or inspired) you to uncover and grow this חכמה?
(Finish the following sentence: Thank you ________ for helping me see that Hashem gave me ________________ )

(Option 1) 3. In what ways do you wish you had more חכמה

If you truly believed that ה’ placed that חכמה within you, how could you be מעורר yourself to uncover and grow it?

(Option 2) 3. How could you be a משה? How can you help others see the חכמה that ה’ has filled them with - that they may not even believe they have?

  • Could be a general question like - which part of the limmud resonated most for you? Which question was the hardest for you to answer?
  • Or questions anticipating students’ responses- What do you think students will say for X or Y? To what extent are you open to being surprised?
